Assistant Director of Stewardship and Student Philanthropy

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee strategies to recognize, cultivate, steward, and retain leadership annual donors to The Hopkins Fund.
  • Make recommendations for new ideas to elevate The Hopkins Fund stewardship experience.
  • Align efforts with cross-campus stewardship teams.
  • Manage external vendor relationships.
  • Regularly review and, as needed, update The Hopkins Fund website, print materials, and giving forms.
  • Draft acknowledgement and annual stewardship letters and videos for The Hopkins Fund, which may include coordinating activities with current students and cross-campus partners.
  • Support the establishment of database processes and facilitate the distribution of customized gift tracking and progress reports;

work with the director of development of The Hopkins Fund to set monthly prospect development meeting agendas and leverage database dashboards and prospect groups to maximize collaboration and efficiency across Homewood gift officer teams.

  • Coordinate student participation in stewardship events and activities designed to support The Hopkins Fund and other Central and Homewood DAR offices.
  • Serve as event management lead for all stewardship activities affiliated with The Hopkins Fund.

Management of the Student Philanthropy Program

  • Manage the Student Philanthropy Association (SPA) and Senior Class Giving Campaign (SCG) and lead and activate volunteers throughout the year.
  • Prepare, administer, and monitor the annual budget for SPA.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student volunteers to educate undergraduate students on the culture and impact philanthropy has across the Homewood community.
  • Develop and implement an annual campaign calendar of events and social media strategy for SPA & SCG.
  • Achieve 50%+ participation from the SCG Campaign to support annual undergraduate alumni participation goals.
  • Regularly collaborate with development colleagues in the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences, Whiting School of Engineering, Athletics, Parents Programs & Giving, Central Annual Giving, and Central Alumni Relations to enhance the universitys constituent engagement efforts through student philanthropy.
  • In partnership with the Office of Annual Giving. serve as development liaison with student groups requesting guidance with student-led crowdfunding campaigns and fundraising initiatives;

ensuring compliance with development procedures and promoting best practices in executing focused appeals.

Other Duties

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the programs, research areas, and funding priorities of all aspects of the Homewood Undergraduate experience.
  • Support strategic initiatives and operational goals within The Hopkins Fund.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years related experience.
  • Additional graduate level education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising, sales / marketing is required; preferably in higher education.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, problem solve, and follow through with assignments from start to finish.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, collaboration, diplomacy, and confidentiality in a team-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with University nomenclature, protocols and programs as well as any previous experience with JHAS (Hopkins Development Database) or other Salesforce CRM are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and external parties.

Total Rewards

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins Universitys salary range for this position.

Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education / training and other qualifications.

Education and Experience Equivalency

Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines : JHU Equivalency Formula : 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.

Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education / experience required for the respective job.
