Job Title : Avionics Manager

Summary : The Avionics Manager coordinates maintenance activities as required with other departments such as Maintenance Control, Heavy Maintenance, Line Maintenance, Quality Control, and Materials.
Ensures company policies and procedures are followed. The Avionics Manager reports to the Director of Maintenance.
Essential Functions :
- Completes Initial Level 2 SMS Training and maintains currency as outlined in the Safety Management System Manual (SMS), Chapter 4.
- Addresses all safety concerns and generates WBAT reports when necessary
- Ensures all avionics personnel are trained and qualified to always perform the assigned duties
- Manages annual performance evaluations for avionics technicians
- Reviews paperwork generated by avionics technicians for accuracy and completeness
- Manages and directs all avionic functions at all maintenance stations and avionic AOG technicians
- Evaluates all Ads and SBs and advises senior management
- Orders all materials and kits and schedules the installation of all associated approved ADs and SBs
- Monitors avionics team staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate maintenance coverage and operational efficiency
- Reviews overtime and initiates schedule changes as required
- Monitors avionics status across all fleets, issues and implements work requests as necessary for each fleet
- Responsible for policies, regulations, and procedures for the purpose of ETOPS compliance
- Coordinates with Maintenance Control and the Materials department to ensure parts and equipment are ordered in a timely manner for A / C deferrals, upgrade projects, AD / SB compliance
- Responsible for monitoring policies, regulations, and procedures for the purpose of ETOPs compliance
Qualifications :
- Must hold a valid A&P mechanic certificate with appropriate ratings
- Must maintain National Airlines qualifications and authorizations for Airworthiness Release and ETOPS.
- Experience on 747 / 757 / A330 aircraft or equivalent wide-body aircraft preferred.
- knowledge of all aspects of aircraft maintenance to include mechanical, structural, and avionics systems
- Minimum of 5 years of avionics supervisor experience.
- Proven ability to lead and manage others effectively while remaining calm under stress.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, as well as inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used to determine the quality or airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance, repair or alterations.
- Must demonstrate commitment to quality and safety in all maintenance.
- Must complete the training, checking / testing and qualification requirements defined in National Airlines' General Maintenance Manual to serve as a Mechanic / Technician
- Previous Supervisory / Management experience is required
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a record that meets our company’s insurance standards.
- Must pass a background check which may include a pre-employment drug test and criminal history records check (CHRC)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country in which the position is located.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related field; and / or an equivalent amount of education and work experience
- Five years of experience at an airline or MRO strongly preferred.
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Exceptional communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft products, including but not limited to advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to work in a team environment and have a positive attitude.

Responsible for supervising the AOG avionics technicians
Physical Demands :
Must be able to perform frequent walking, sitting, stooping, stretching, bending, reaching, and grasping actions. May be required to work nights and weekends.
Regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment :
Generally, in office and different workstations such as the Hangar or ramp areas
Travel / Other Requirements :
- May travel up to 30%
- Valid passport without restrictions for travel in / out of the United States is required.
