POSITION SUMMARY :

The primary function of the Collections Representative I is to protect the assets of the credit union while lowering delinquencies.

Follows collection treatment guidelines and assists members with their financial needs. Meets or exceeds goals and expectations established by management for consumer and / or real estate delinquent accounts.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS :

Contacts members and joint-makers by telephone to collect delinquent loan payments, These accounts typically range from 5 to 180 days past due.

Maintains high level of member service in every member interaction.

Works in a high-volume call center environment and handles both inbound and outbound calls manually, handling an average of 100+ accounts per day.

Engages in multiple tasks such as negotiating payment arrangements, leaving messages, documenting accounts appropriately, and working with our members to bring their past due loans current.

Meets scheduling requirements of the department by working assigned staggered shifts and occasional Saturdays.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

High School education required and one or more years of high volume auto finance, unsecured and / or real estate collections experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Knowledge of lending and collection regulations (FDCPA, Rosental FDCPA).

Strong communications skills, written and oral, ability to use good judgment, team spirited, goal oriented, self-starter, and enthusiastic.

COMPUTER SKILLS :

Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to type 35 wpm

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
