General Summary : Seattle Pacific University's Student Ministries equips students for a lifetime of engaging the culture and changing the world.
Our focus is holistic formation spiritually, intellectually, and vocationally. The Minister of Christian Spiritual Formation provides pastoral leadership and spiritual care to undergraduate students, particularly residential students, fostering spiritual growth through ministry events, developing student leaders, and pastoral care relationships.
Job duties include :
Oversight of Student Ministry Efforts : Lead and supervise the Student Ministry Coordinator (SMC) team, collaborating closely with Residence Life and the Office of Student Ministries.
Responsibilities include recruitment, hiring, training, and ongoing support for peer-to-peer spiritual formation in residence halls, small groups, and Group worship.
- Chapel and Worship Services : Assist in planning and executing chapel services, special university worship services, and spiritual life events in collaboration with pastoral staff and student coordinators.
- Pastoral Leadership : Provide pastoral care and spiritual leadership to undergraduate students in one-on-one and small group settings.
Regularly preach and teach in campus worship services, fostering the spiritual life of the campus community.
Cross-Campus Collaboration : Serve on various cross-campus teams, committees, and task forces, including SLAM Leadership, SST, and CSOT.
Attend Student Ministry meetings, collaborative events, and high ceremonies.
Requirements :
- Masters level seminary degree required; MDiv. or DMin. preferred.
- Demonstrated pastoral experience with college students, preferably within higher education.
- Strong pastoral care and leadership skills. Excellent administrative abilities, including team leadership, written and oral communication, self-management, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Ordination or willingness to seek ordination.
- Active and contagious Christian faith, in alignment with , including the commitment to live by the lifestyle standards of the Christian Community.
- Flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends (typically 2 evenings / week).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
