Description of Work Continued : Primary Purpose of the Position :
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the nurses and medical providers in the medical clinic, women’s health clinic, and vaccination clinic.
This person will be responsible for preparing patients for medical procedures and preparing equipment for daily operations.
This position assists the physician and other healthcare providers with standards assignments and interpreting doctor’s orders and diagnoses to patients.
They screen patients, document vital signs and chief complaints, obtain lab specimens per protocol, and manage patient / office appointments.
A clinical medical assistant’s primary focus is to support patient care, from assisting physicians in performing medical examinations to collecting specimens for the lab.
Coordinates clinic operations and assists providers by performing vital signs, patient questionnaire intake, data entry, and medical records management.
Assists with and provides patient care services and customer services, as necessary. Maintains all patient care-related documentation in hard copy and / or electronic medical records.
Must demonstrate skill in clinical duties such as vitals, health history, and other clinical duties as directed by clinicians.
Possesses time management skills and the ability to multi task, good communication skills to assist patients and providers, as necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements : High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is a Military Medical Specialist with twenty-four months of experience and eligible for certification or registration and three years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
Licensure : American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required with hire. Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), the AMT (American Medical Technologists), NAHP (The National Association of Healthcare Professions), the ARMA (American Registry of Medical Assistants), or the NHA (National Healthcare Association) is also required.
Credentials must be obtained within 6 months of the date of hire. BLS Certification is required.
