Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Foreman and / or Site Manager, the Plant Mechanic is responsible to work independently on all maintenance and repair tasks within the aggregate plant.
Main Responsibilities
- Examines and diagnoses problems, and repairs according to generally accepted methods. Discusses extensive or difficult in depth repairs with Foreman and / or Site Manager.
- Performs routine scheduled maintenance as outlined by the Foreman and / or the Site Manager
- Removes components for repair or replacement such as, but not limited to; motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, rollers, conveyor belts, v-belts, pumps, screens, crushers etc.
- Disassembles components, inspects parts for wear, and determines cause of failure.
- Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulic systems, and components.
- Inspects and replaces parts such as crusher liners, screen media, etc.
- Overhauls or rebuilds serviceable components
- Performs major welding and cutting must pass a welding / cutting test (certification strongly preferred).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills
- 5 years minimum experience or similar industry experienced preferred
- Must have knowledge of welding material, welding properties, and various type of metals
- Must have welding experience
- Must be able to perform bracing, welding, arc-welding and cutting tasks
- Must know how to use tools required for the job
- Must be able to change crusher liners without guidance of the Foreman and / or Site Manager
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, crawl, and climb
- Good vision (naturally or with correction)
- Able to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis
- Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
- Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of proper PPE
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
