Position Overview : The Senior Estimator - MEP plays a key role in structuring and managing an estimating process for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction projects.
The Senior Estimator will review plans and specifications, identify project challenges, and analyze the costs associated with the project.
They will collaborate with project management to develop cost estimates, job costing, and value engineering ideas. They are also responsible for maintaining a high standard of accuracy, integrity, and quality while managing the project from start to completion.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare detailed estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects including but not limited to remodels, renovations, and ground up projects.
- Develop takeoff drawings and quantity surveys from existing blueprints and / or sketches.
- Research construction costs, labor costs, materials, and equipment costs.
- Manage and coordinate the estimating process for various projects.
- Analyze design and construction documents to determine scope of work.
- Review bid documents and create a schedule of values.
- Perform code review to ensure the project meets all building codes.
- Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, reports, and drawings.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in the project estimates.
- Identify and implement cost savings methods.
- Communicate with project stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the projects.
- Prepare presentations to explain costing and budgetary details to clients and project stakeholders.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Estimator / Senior Estimator in the construction industry.
- Excellent understanding of MEP systems, construction techniques, and building codes.
- Public Agency / Healthcare / Transportation / Commercial Project Experience
- Knowledge of computer-aided drawing (CAD) and estimation software (Bluebeam / On Center).
