Warehouse Electrician / Instrument Technician

Overview

Michigan Sugar Company has a full-time opportunity for a Warehouse Electrician / Instrument Technician at the Croswell Factory. This position is an hourly position working various schedules and is part of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers Local # 262-G.

The warehouse Electrician / Instrument Technician will maintain and do new installation of electrical and instrumentation systems in and around the warehouse.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install all trade sizes of conduit required for electrical and instrumentation wiring, ensuring the size and configuration match the application, including measuring, cutting, carrying, bending, threading and hanging in place.
• Pull wire for electrical or instrument requirements, ensuring the wire size and number of conductors are correct, including measuring, cutting, carrying and lubricating as necessary.
• Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, socket sets, pipe wrenches, hammers, and taps to install electrical and instrument devices; torque screws or connectors as needed using electrical and instrumentation specific tools, gauges and devices.
• Install, replace or repair electric motors, from fractional to multiples of hundred horsepower, including lifting, pushing or prying to position or align them.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits to identify problems and restore equipment operation.
• Use tools such as electric drills, surface grinders, hammer drills, conduit benders, and wire pullers as part of the job.
• Perform all work in a safe manner, paying special attention to lock out tag out procedures.
• Use computers and logic as troubleshooting devices.
• Work with the mechanical crew as needed.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices.
• Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Repetitive lifting or carrying items up to 40-50 lbs.
• Repetitive lifting above 50 pounds shall be accomplished with the assistance of another employee or the use of a mechanical lifting device.
