Packaging Engineer

Position Summary : Bilfinger Industrial Services is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to join our team in support of a major international bottled beverage producer.

Bilfinger engineers serve the packaging industry in materials selection, package design and automation. Ideal candidates must have excellent communication skills, be positive, self-motivated, and can work and manage projects independently.

Duties and Responsibilities : Work closely with client on package development within a stage gate process. Work closely with packaging supplier to ensure packaging requirements are met.

Assist with packaging line trials at company owned and contract manufacturing locations as needed. Assist with compiling trial data in a timely manner.

Work closely with equipment vendors to ensure packaging meets machinability requirements. Work closely with client to ensure that key product requirements are identified and delivered.

Assist in Start-up and Commissioning activities as it relates to relocated, new or existing packaging lines. Identify and analyze package performance testing on materials and components.

Assist with distribution testing where appropriate. Attend QC packaging qualifications and report on RQL statistics Conduct quality inspections and perform root cause analysis.

Assist with field inspections to evaluate storage and transportation damage. Develop packaging specifications for new and / or existing products.

Actively participate on multiple cross-functional project teams. Remotely based position with project related travel up to 50% required.

Basic Qualifications : BS in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or other related area. 5 - 10 years of packaging / manufacturing experience.

Ability to handle multiple projects at a time. Ability to identify, problem solve and interpret complex packaging engineering problems.

Capable of making sound technical decisions on a wide range of issues regarding both packaging materials and packaging equipment.

Knowledge of packaging materials. Capable of capital estimating and project scoping. Knowledge of the food and beverage industry;

hot fill, cold fill and chilled beverages. Experience with consumer products a plus. Desired Skills : Must be able to lead / manage project work in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Competence in ArtiosCAD or AutoCAD a plus Competence in TOPS or Cape a plus Powered by JazzHR
