In order to clarify the Driver Qualifications, please use this document as a guide when sourcing and selecting candidates.

This is what we use now. Hopefully this will provide some consistency and relieve some of the frustration across the board.

These are broken down into 7 areas :

Minimum Qualifications

• PSP Thresholds
• Violations
• Accidents
• Accident Reports
• Criminal Records
• Serious Safety Violations I Any in the past 3 years require a safety file review. Serious Safety Violations II Any in the past 5 years require a safety file review.

1 Year of OTR / Regional verifiable Driving experience in the last 3 years for the same type of driving operation they are applying for.

Flatbed / Open Deck

• If the candidate has 6 months verified experience in the last 2 years, they are qualified.
• If the candidate has 6 months flatbed experience more than 2 years ago and less than 10 years ago, they can qualify for flatbed by attending a load securement awareness program during Orientation.

Other Qualifications

• Must be 23 years of ageable to pass Federal D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen
• NOTE : We will accept present long form physical with 3 months or more remaining.
• No alcohol related offenses in the past 5 years.
• No more than one moving violation in the past 12 months.
• No more than two moving violations in the past 36 months.
• No history of reckless or careless driving in the past 36 months.
• Satisfactory work history (will review all terminations for safety related issues).

2 YRS of Experience + Less than 2 years exp.

UNSAFE DRIVING 10 7

Accidents

• No DOT preventable recordable accidents within the last 12 months
• No more than 1 preventable in the last 12
• No more than 2 preventable in the last 36 months
• Accident Reports When are they required?
• NOTE : If they are listed on the MVR or PSP, a record does exist.
• On MVR : Yes
• On PSP : Yes
• Driver listed but not on MVR or PSP :
• Inside 6 months, yes (based on severity, some states take 6 months to upload)
• Outside 6 months, no (driver can provide written statement)
• Company reported but driver failed to list :
• Driver must list but can provide written statement

Criminal Records

All reviewed for severity on a case-by-case basis

Serious Safety Violations

Present drivers are subject to immediate cancellation or termination if they violate the following serious safety infractions.

We must review those candidates that exhibit these unsafe behaviors.

• Subject to review if they occurred in the past 36 months :
• Failure to use Seatbelt
• Speeding 11 or more above the posted limit
• Speeding in a Construction or school zone
• Texting / Using a hand-held device
• Unauthorized Passenger
• Subject to review if they occurred in the past 5 years :
• Causing a Rear-end collision
• Any alcohol related offense
• Loss of control accidents (vehicular or cargo)
• Rollover accidents
• Overhead Bridge strikes
• Failure to report accident
