About the Job
The Buchanan YMCA MYEEP (Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education Program) Academic Mentor Tutor will provide high-quality academic support for program participants, working effectively with youth of color in low-income communities.
The Academic Mentor Tutor reports directly to the Teen Coordinator. The Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education Program (MYEEP) is a citywide collaboration with the Buchanan YMCA and among other non-profits to provide paid work experience to over 1000 San Francisco high school youth annually.
Program dates : Must be available to work September 1 - June 4, 2025
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years or older
- Associate’s degree or 2 years of college (48 units completed)
- Previous work experience with teens
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Google G-Suite
- Current YMCA approved CPR and 1st Aid certification, Child Abuse Prevention training, and any further certifications requested by the YMCA and Grant Funders (may complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse populations of youth, youth at-risk and strong understanding of youth development
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or other languages
