The Safety Manager will manage the Corbins Health and Safety Program at the designated project(s) and will partner with Project Management and front-line supervision to plan and execute without incident all project scopes of work.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and manage comprehensive environmental safety & health programs and initiatives on Corbins project site locations.
- Participate in site leadership team meetings and provides Corbins project team with guidance on health and safety matters and provides a regular on-site safety presence to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with industry regulations, health and safety plans, policies or procedures, contract documents, and best practices.
- Collaborate with project leadership to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for site injury and incident notification, investigation, and injured worker case management.
- Plan and lead safety meetings or workplace injury and illness prevention trainings and maintain all attendance and training records.
- Manage and conduct proactive site safety audits to identify and track leading indicators, develop corrective actions, and implement follow up assessments for continual safety performance improvement.
- Prepare and distribute professional and timely safety communications or reports to all site employees, trade partners and customers.
- Supervise and mentor Safety Coordinators and Professionals.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience and 3 years management experience
- Ability to be the Subject Matter Expert in OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety regulations
- General knowledge of Workers Compensation, Claims Management and Return to Work practices
- Electrical experience or extensive electrical safety knowledge preferred
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments that include office settings and jobsite settings.
- Ability to conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments to develop safe work plans that eliminate or mitigate hazards.
- Possess a valid driver's license and successfully complete a pre-hire background check and drug screen
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including but not limited to, internal and external communication with peers, leadership, and outside customers.
- Ability to confidently delivery safety orientations, site specific training, and other safety related training to various size groups of employees.
- Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements while remaining compliant with all applicable safety requirements.
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
- Ability to positively motivate others and establish a positive and professional rapport with all employees, other site personnel and customers
Education / Certifications / Licenses
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Preferred
- Safety Engineering or equivalent professional safety certification such as CHST, ASP or CSP
- OSHA 510 and 500
- NFPA 70E
- CPR-AED-First Aid Certification
