Job Summary / Company :

Sparks Group has partnered with a non-profit organization seeking a Chief Financial Officer. As the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial and contract administration of the organization to include overall financial reporting and compliance, serving as liaison with Board of Directors, finance department oversight, investment supervision as well as staff supervision and oversight.

This is a hands-on role working with a collaborative leadership team and overseeing a team of 3. The ideal candidate will have 7 years working in leadership roles as well as experience managing and administering government contracts.

Responsibilities :

  • Review all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, project reports, and tax returns for compliance with federal, tax, and accounting regulations.
  • Suggest methods for improving accounting and budgeting processes.
  • Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors and its Audit and Executive Committees, coordinating agenda and action items with the President & CEO.
  • Oversee the finance department, annual budget preparation, contract budgets, and audit requirements.
  • Meet regularly with leadership to discuss financial performance and provide direction.
  • Supervise investments of excess funds and provide recommendations to the President & CEO.
  • Responsible for staff development and cross-training within the accounting and finance department.

Qualifications / Background Profile :

  • 8-10 years of overall relevant work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience with progressive responsibilities in related roles with strong leadership skills.
  • CPA, CMA or CFE required.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with emphasis in Finance and Accounting highly preferred.
  • Experience in managing and administering government contracts preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience in Costpoint preferred.
