The Academic Advisor collaborates with staff and faculty to ensure student success by providing academic advisement and other student services.

The Academic Advisor's primary responsibility is to promote a student-centered environment by engaging and supporting students throughout their academic careers at GSEP with care, compassion, and professionalism.
The Academic Advisor would work at the Calabasas location.
Duties
Anticipate the needs of students and promote a willingness to problem solve with student-related issues; travel to various GSEP campuses to support the students;
maintain regular office hours with an "open door" policy for walk-ins.
- Perform regular degree audits and graduation checks each term and manage the readmission process.
- Ensure the student permanent files contain all official, required information and comply with University policies. Keep manuals up to date for the position.
- Grade audits to monitor students academic progress and initiate contact with students whose progress is unsatisfactory;
- provide academic advisement on matters of curriculum, course registration, process enrollment requests each term, perform international student registration audits, process waivers and transfers;
and build strong relationships with students.
Advise students regarding all aspects of their academic program and student services; respond to student inquiries in a timely manner;
create a welcoming environment; and promote positive engagement with students.
Assist in coordinating registration and orientation activities; participate in staff training; gain an in-depth understanding of GSEP academic programs and policies in order to counsel students;
and resolve student issues.
- Participate in GSEP graduation ceremonies and committees. Other duties as assigned to support the department- such as, but not limited to student engagement activities, sharing resources with students, staff and faculty meetings.
- Uphold University mission and act as a GSEP ambassador through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications
Required : Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 1 year experience in higher education or related field. Ability to demonstrate care and compassion in a student-centered environment and establish positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff in support of students and the University mission.
Ability to sustain productivity while managing multiple projects. Travel to graduate campuses and work some evenings and weekends.
Appropriate use of technology as required for the position.
Preferred : Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students in a higher education environment.
Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and counseling skills in working with a diverse student population and to advocate for students.
Ability to maintain a professional manner and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive student information and situations.
Ability to interpret and apply University policies in a manner that supports students and complies with University policies.
Strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate diplomatically. Willingness to learn all aspects of student services to assist students.
Experience with PeopleSoft, Noliji, and current software applications.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range : $23.85 - $26.49 per hour
