Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress;
inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
Plans, supervises and implements programs, services and maintenance activities for Athletic and Aquatic facilities citywide.
Builds relationships and collaborates with local and regional partners to optimize athletic and aquatic programs and facilities for the residents of Savannah.
Develops objectives for long-range and short-range use of recreation facilities.
Establishes scope, schedule and expectations of plans and objectives.
Coordinates projects with staff in other departments.
Makes presentations to and attend meetings with elected officials, representatives of various civic, private and government organizations.
Plans, organizes and coordinates day-to-day projects and activities directly and through subordinate supervisors.
Recommends, implements and administers policies and procedures.
Directs, manages and participates in the development of the departments work plan.
Analyzes department personnel, equipment and procedures; recommend and implement improvements, automation or streamlining of work activities.
Assists in the development and monitoring of department budgets.
Prepares budget forecasts for operations, maintenance and capital expenditures for Athletic and Aquatic services.
Analyzes long- and short-term capital requirements.
Provides guidance and assistance to subordinate staff on budget management issues.
Researches and obtains funding sources through grants, city allocations, private industry, and revenue producing programs and activities.
Monitors and approves budget expenditures within division as required.
Provides technical support, information and guidance on recreation services to the public, partners, and other City departments.
Responds to requests for information on recreation policies and procedures.
Prepares complex and comprehensive documents on issues requiring analysis, project tracking, presentation, and recommendation for implementation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management, Parks and Recreation Administration, Physical Education or related field, andsix (6) years of progressively responsible management experience in a public parks and recreation department agency oran equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) / Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) or ability to obtain within 12-months of hire date.
