General Summary of Position

Job Summary :

Medstar Health is looking for a Director of Nuclear Medicine to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center!

As a Director of Nuclear Medicine, you will direct all patient care services in the Nuclear Medicine and PET department to ensure timely and effective patient care.

Manages all employees ensuring supervisors, technical staff and administrative personnel conform to NRC, radiation safety and hospital policies / procedures.

Serves as Nuclear Medicine technical advisor for Department of Medicine AVP, and other various hospital departments and is the liaison between MedStar Washington Nuclear Medicine and MedStar driven initiatives.

Primary Duties :

Develops and recommends short / long range objectives consistent with hospital guidelines. Prepares department operational budgets and presents them to executive staff (AVP) for approval.

Manages the unit’s overall operations / fiscal assets in accordance withMedStar Washington Hospital Center policies and procedures.

Conducts sound business practices contributing to the fiscal financial success of the department and MedStar Washington.

Develops annual capital acquisition budget and replacement plan, oversees the purchasing and installation of all capital equipment.

Ensures that quality controls and operations conform to local, state, and federal governmental regulations. Coordinates preparation for inspection by regulatory agencies and ensures recommendations are executed.

Maintains familiarity with all current and proposed legislation.

Ensures that written protocols are updated and available for all procedures and addresses patient and medical staff complaints.

Oversees organization and staffing plans to ensure they are consistent and adequate for attainment of objectives. Reviews staffing recommendations and makes modifications as necessary to ensure mission completion.

Hires, trains, guides, evaluates, and develops supervisor subordinate staff in accordance with defined policies and objectives.

Serves as liaison with educational institutions and their department directors that participate in joint training programs in Nuclear Medicine technology.

Directs proper use of all information systems used in Nuclear Medicine for patient care and billing purposes, ensuring patient privacy.

Oversees training of all staff and assures information systems containing patient data is effectively used. Directs staff on how to manage and maintain proper storage of Nuclear Medicine patient films and digital media.

Updates department CDM and communicates relevant changes and information to the work group.

Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree.

Associate degree plus 10 or more years' experience may be considered.

5-7 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience.

Health Services NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech.

ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
