SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Production Team Leader, PTL is responsible for a team of process operators on shift. accountable for the Shift Team’s performance & results in HSSE, Production, Reliability, Quality, Cost, People Development, Compliance, etc.
Provides leadership for the shift team in support of achieving Operational Excellence, as it pertains to HSSE, Reliability, Product Quality, Cost, etc.
Assess and develop the skills and capability of the technicians on the shift team to meet current and future needs. Conducts qualification walkthroughs with the Trainees.
This walkthrough is to demonstrate to the Production Team Leader that the Trainee has acquired the appropriate amount of process knowledge and skills to efficiently and effectively perform the job safely.
Serves as the primary communication and management link for and to the shift teams, which includes communication links with Production Superintendent, Production Operation Manager and others.
Implements and monitors the effectiveness of the daily work processes to be executed by the shift teams.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Serve as the Team Leader for their shift ensuring proper carryover of production activities and requirements.
- Work in conjunction with incident commander as a resource to handle unit specific issues.
- Accept responsibility for the safety of the crew team members and contractors as well as a coach and participate in visible safety leadership activities
- Verbally directs team members and partners with Operations Superintendent on any employee performance or employee relations concerns.
- Provide recognition and effective discipline to employees.
- Responsible for direct coaching of chemical process operators, to ensure compliance with key metrics.
- Supervise daily production processes and the performance within assigned unit
- Lead Tier 1 Meetings and actively participate as a member of the Tier 2 team by maintaining open, effective and collaborative working relationships at all levels and by engaging people through open values-based behaviors.
- Prioritize and campaign the importance of training to ensure all team members are sufficiently skilled, enabled and motivated to succeed whilst balancing production priorities and commitments.
- Undertake resource monitoring and coordination in advance so the Operators are adequately equipped to meet daily and weekly targets.
- Prepare and deliver regular updates on plant and process performance to Operations Management.
- Assist in the execution of maintenance PM's and the Work Execution Management Process.
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers and the logistics team to ensure the safe and efficient collection and delivery of the finished product.
- Use and update P&IDs and ensure P&ID literacy among the shifts.
- Accountable to ensure all unit checklists, procedure reviews, and procedure check-offs are complete by shift teams.
- Verify compliance through day-to-day monitoring of key chemical manufacturing metrics including safety, environmental, costs, production, quality and personnel.
- Responsible for scheduling daily operator tasks and for confirming priorities for weekly operations and maintenance activities with the OMC.
- Assist in trouble shooting of plant occupancy and product quality problems.
Rotating Coverage as Incident in Command Responsibilities :
- Provide overall direction and leadership to site during off-shift and weekend hours. Provide support to operating areas in the areas of safety and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate outside resources and personnel assignment related to mechanical repairs of key operating equipment for continuous operation of facilities.
- Coordinate receipt of incoming materials and overseeing shipping and any Transportation Emergency Response (TER) issues of all finished product to and from site.
- Function as Incident Commander and coordinate site emergency response procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Direct the emergency response team and emergency medical personnel and outside agencies as part of incident command during crisis events.
- Notify and coordinate all government agency activities in the event of a crisis.
- Maintain perimeter security and provide oversight to the guard staff.
- Be the point of contact for all government representatives when they arrive on site and ensure the correct.
- Coordinate and facilitate activities across operating units specifically during Start-Ups and Shutdowns.
- Function as back up permit signer for all units.
- Make face to face contact with near neighbors to address concerns when received.
- Be the POC for all tenants to address concerns.
- Provide off shift support to Material Services.
- Oversee shift fire fighters on the off shift.
- Call out appropriate personnel as needed to help support all incidents, and questions to ensure proper yard operations.
- All other duties as assigned by company leadership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
5-7 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing, refinery or other related industrial environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- 7-10 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing, refinery or other related industrial environment.
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION : Minimum Required : High school or equivalentPreferred : 3 qualifications minimum, including DCS board qualification.
Preferred Experience in leading, coaching, and developing workgroup members is a good foundation for this position.

Pontchartrain Schedule :
- Week 1 (48 hours)- two days from 5 PM to 5 AM, two days off, followed by three days from 5 AM to 5 PM, two days off
- Week 2 (36 hours)- two days from 5 PM to 5 AM, three days off, followed by two days from 5 AM to 5 PM, three days off
