Description & Requirements

We are seeking an experimental research associate to join our team at the Broad Institute to build a comprehensive map of transcription factor regulation across tissues.

This effort, led by Founding Director Eric Lander, will seek to understand the fundamental wiring of the genome and build a reference atlas for discovering biological mechanisms of common genetic diseases.

The Lander Laboratory is a dynamic, innovative, and interdisciplinary workplace and is seeking to hire an exceptional scientist who will work at the Lander Lab in this next foundational project to understand the human genome.

Prior research associates working with the principal investigator have co-authored publications in major journals including Cell, Science and Nature.

This is a 40 hour / week full-time position with flexible hours and competitive salary / fringe benefits.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with scientists and research associates to make fundamental discoveries about gene regulation and disease genetics.
  • Develop and apply functional genomics techniques, including epigenomics, single-cell, transcriptomics, and CRISPR-based assays in human cells and tissues.
  • Work with the Lander Lab and the wider Broad community to integrate emerging technology and streamline data generation and analysis.
  • Design and lead independent projects including developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Make significant contributions to scientific papers, quantitative data analyses, and presentations.
  • Contribute to the generation of protocols and data analyses.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related life science field.
  • Additional 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology, genomics, and cellular biology (cell-based assays, primary and cell line culture) is required.
  • Experience with genome editing tools including CRISPR targeting in various human cell types is preferred.
  • Proven track record of critical scientific thinking, multi-tasking ability, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with scientists from a wide range of research expertise.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
