ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL, ENERGY, INSTALLATION & ENVIRONMENT (EI&E)
You will serve as the Assistant General Counsel (Energy, Installations and Environment) in the Office of the General Counsel for the Department of the Navy (DON).

Duties
- You will direct the practice of law on behalf of DON in environmental law, natural and cultural resources, historic preservation, real property, installation management, military construction, energy, safety, base closure and strategic sourcing.
- You will manage the legislative review process for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations and Environment) including coordination with the DON’s Office of Legislative Affairs and the DoD Office of Legislative Counsel.
- You will be responsible for oversight and guidance of the DON environmental law program and the coordination of DON legal positions on such matters with other federal agencies.
- You will provide legal support and advice to DON elements engaged in coordination, consultation, and negotiation with federal, state, local, and interstate agency regulators and administrators.
- You will chair the DON Environmental Law and Real Property Law Communities of Practice, supporting the continuing legal education and training of DON environmental law and real property law civilian and uniformed attorneys.
Salary
$193,819 - $221,900 / year
Conditions of Employment

- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to sign the Reassignment Rights and Obligations Agreement as a condition of appointment into the SES.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- May be required to successfully complete a 1-year SES probationary period.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and / or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS : Applicants will be assessed against qualifications which fall into two areas : Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs).

Education
Applicant must have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.
S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia; and be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
Other Information
This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES). Veteran's preference does not apply to the Senior Executive Service.
