Production Lead
Company is a privately held company that designs and manufactures comprehensive lines of auxiliary products for the plastics processing industry.
Company maintains an expansive product line, which includes size reduction equipment (granulators and shredders), material conveying equipment, metering and blending devices, heat exchangers (mold temperature control units and chillers), drying systems, and presses.
These products are marketed under such recognizable brand names as AEC, Sterling, Cumberland, Wabash and Carver.
Manufacturing facilities are located in New Berlin, Wisconsin and Wabash, Indiana with a third facility located Suzhou, China to handle the needs of the Asian market.
The Production Lead will work in the department as a liaison between Supervision and the production environment. When not performing the duties below, the employee will be manufacturing product for the department to achieve on time orders.
This position will not have employee corrective action responsibility or leading company policy deployment.
A successful candidate will be responsible for :
Oversee the assigned production area and give direction to meet established specifications for quality, functionality, and lead time to attain on-time delivery goals and efficiency
Assist in the assembly of department products / equipment
Work with Purchasing Department to order materials
Support metrics, expectations, and accountabilities of department
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and assist with training new team members
Ensure all rules and practices are adhered to such as to ensure a safe manufacturing and operating environment
Accurately maintain work schedule and Avante administration
Schedule daily work activities to include :
Completing pick list and turn in for accurate and timely inventory transactions
Print job packets containing work orders and pick lists
Assist Order Pickers with picking parts for jobs per the pick list and deliver to the appropriate work cell as needed
Work with HR on any employee relations concerns in the absence of the Department Supervisor
Maintain a clean and overall safe facility, ensuring procedures are being followed as expected and training carried out for the protection of each employee and the company
Assure compliance is consistent with OSHA, ISO, and other regulatory agencies
Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and procedures are being followed
Maintain high quality standards for all goods with a continuous focus on providing outstanding customer service
Promotes a cohesive and positive team environment
Other duties as assigned
A qualified candidate will be pro-active, dedicated, and possess these basic requirements :
High School diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of relevant experience
Basic knowledge of MRP system
Background in planning, scheduling and expediting a plus
Familiar with the use of various hand / power tools
Able to drive forklift and obtain a forklift certification
Ability to identify and implement cost-reduction ideas
Strong leadership and team building skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to read and interpret written instruction to determine the form, fit and function of parts
Adept in basic critical thinking, problem solving and spatial reasoning
Good organizational skills
Basic math skills
