Job Summary
Associate Technical Sourcing Manager role manages Supplier interactions with M&A & R&D by :
- Knowing and communicating sourcing risks to leadership for early intervention in PDP
- Understanding bottom line requirements to recommend suppliers for all phases of PDP and product transfer
- Identifying potential new sources in lieu of an existing Global Sourcing strategy
- Document and manage project requirements
- Track and manage improvements in procured component Supply Risk, Quality, Material Cost, and Response / Lead Time for the full Device procured Bill of Material, (for both new and legacy components).
- Deliver phase gate requirements for ELT briefings
- Ensure products are fully prepared to transition to post-production following necessary validation activities
- Manage and coordinate Sourcing Project Deliverables in support of Product Development.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities :
Project Management- Project Management and coordination of Project Deliverables in support of New Product Introduction and report out to stakeholders at stage gate exit.
Facilitate Early Supplier Engagement technical reviews, document agreements and risks, and drive closure of open action items.
Technical Sourcing Strategy Supply Risk Mitigation : Associate Technical Sourcing Manager will track and manage improvements in procured component Supply Risk, Quality, Material Cost, and Response / Lead Time for the full Device procured Bill of Material, in M&A and NPI.
Associate Technical Sourcing Manager will review CooperSurgical NPI plans with the GCM’s and Senior Manager to provide early communication to Global Strategic Sourcing for supplier identification.
In addition, Associate Technical Sourcing Manager will be knowledgeable of Category Strategy updates to ensure Supply Roadmaps are integrated into NPI and M&A Programs.
Source Selection - Category Strategies : Associate Technical Sourcing Manager is responsible for Supplier Selection processes in coordination with Category Management identifying potential new sources where Category Strategies do not yet exist.
Quality Supplier DRM : Supplier Quality Engineering and Associate Technical Sourcing Manager will provide an early voice to influence specification and supplier development.
Cost Targets & Total Cost of Ownership Model : Associate Technical Sourcing Manager will provide first pass negotiation with knowledge of Category Strategies and an ability to influence design / technology / source decisions.
The Associate Technical Sourcing Manager and GCM will partner to finalize supplier negotiations and other necessary contracts to assure the best overall value is achieved for the project and long-term supply.
Lead time Process and Value Stream Mapping : Technical Sourcing Manager will identify and monitor Sourcing Supply Chain lines to ensure efficient sourcing arrangements are made through the Source Selection process, (Systems view, Total Cost of Acquisition Model, Process Mapping, knowledge of Supplier's Supply Chain).
Risk Contracting & Risk Burndown : Technical Sourcing Manager is responsible for monitoring and managing overall Component Risk Levels for the Project.
This will also include establishment of closed loop communication with Manufacturing Facilities and Operations Sourcing to ensure current Sourcing Risks are mitigated in Product Development.
Launch Readiness & Transfer to Operations : Lead for transfer of projects to post-qualification operations; transition from Technical Sourcing to Global Sourcing category managers and supplier quality.
Functional Development - Continuous Improvement : The Associate Technical Sourcing Manager function will continue to refine processes and deliverables.
In pursuit of this, team members will support Projects, Process Development and Deployments to improve the overall Functional Work of Technical Sourcing role and the NPI process.

Work Environment :
- Works remotely with occasional travel to CooperSurgical manufacturing locations and suppliers’ sites as required
- Interacts with domestic and international suppliers frequently
- Travels frequently domestically and internationally as needed to support business requirements
- Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

Experience :
- Progressively responsible experience in materials management / purchasing.
- 1+ years’ experience working in a highly regulated environment and proven familiarity with applicable regulations to include MDR and FDA.
- 2+ experience reading design files to include 2D and 3D models
- 1+ years’ experience working with ERP, inventory management within D365 or similar system software.
- Experience leading cross functional projects and teams.
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in electrical. mechanical, or industrial engineering, supply chain management, or business analytics
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex supply agreements, statements of work, and IP agreements with suppliers and contracted service providers.
- New Product Introduction and supplier transfers within medical device or related industry experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting or working in R&D environment or supply management
