As a Senior Operations Research Analyst, you will lead and perform operations research / systems analysis to provide data science subject matter support to enable organizational leadership to make informed, evidence-based decisions that positively influence the daily execution of mission requirements and development of longer-term strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform the operations research / systems analysis effort for the client organization to enhance evidence-based decision-making that includes conducting advanced analytical studies of the current program data to better understand program spend, develop program recommendations, inform policy formulation, and identify cost savings / efficiencies.
- Lead and perform statistical and operations research methodologies and implement an analytical framework to conduct advanced analytical studies.
- Leverage and expand the client organization’s data science capability through application of advanced statistical and operations research methodologies to conduct analytical studies of program data that support the development of program recommendations, provide expert understanding of program spend, and identify cost savings and efficiencies.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant operations research / systems analysis experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in information systems, Business or related field.
- Strong understanding of principles and concepts of operations research analysis methods and disciplines (e.g., mathematics;
probability; statistics; economics; human factors; optimization; cost estimation; modeling; simulation; and design of experiments) to determine the nature of a problem.
- Formulate alternative courses of action, and quantitatively compare them.
- Apply operations research analysis knowledge to conduct studies to optimize solutions, outcomes, or recommendations; and to evaluate the impact of new technologies or procedures on current systems, capabilities, policies, or procedures.
- Formulate mathematical or simulation models of problems.
- Formulate Statistical methods to forecast projections and evaluate probabilities of success and margins of error.
- Formulate Stochastic modeling to estimate the probability of outcomes when examining random processes.
- Formulate Heuristic techniques to guide in the investigation of a problem to determine appropriate solutions.
- Provide Cost estimation techniques, methods, and tools for planning, estimating, and monitoring cost, budget, or schedule.
- Provide Cost-benefit analyses to determine if a planned action is advisable. Apply risk analyses to quantitatively or qualitatively identify and analyze the threats posed by adverse events.
- Provide Feasibility analyses to objectively uncover the strengths and weaknesses of existing or proposed alternatives.
- Provide advanced analytical methodologies such as data mining, predictive analytics, computational intelligence, trend analysis, and lean six sigma techniques.
