POSITION SUMMARY :

The Kids Café Specialist is responsible for monitoring Kids Cafe sites and ensuring compliance with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

The Specialist is responsible for the daily coordination of all required documentation and maintaining accurate meal service records.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and participating in meetings and presentations.
  • Learns and understands guidelines from TDA to support CACFP and summer feeding compliance.
  • Responsible for checking Link2feed daily and ensuring meal counts are accurate, current, and not in excess.
  • Responsible for entering site information in Link2Feed daily, to ensure that it is accurate, complete, and received in a timely manner, and report any findings to management.
  • Maintains appropriate recordkeeping documentation for compliance with TDA regulations and assists with TDA audits.
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned sites are trained in person or through the online platform Litmos.
  • Provides excellent customer service when interacting with site managers and HFB staff and technical support as needed to sites.
  • Attends a variety of community meetings as needed including parent nights, health fairs, and partner meetings.
  • Monitors CACFP and SFSP sites to ensure all approved sites follow TDA regulations.
  • Manages a large number of emails and phone calls from multiple sites per day.
  • Distributes information about additional resources offered at Houston Food Bank to sites and their neighbors.
  • Keeps accurate records of activities within the appropriate databases, such as Google Sheets and SharePoint, etc.
  • Responsible for site needs, communicating regularly, and updating supervisor with changes in site staffing.
  • Assists in the development and / or implementation of departmental projects as needed.
  • Complies with departmental goals and objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education / Experience :

  • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate. Some college preferred
  • 1-2 years of child nutrition, food service operations, or related work experience
  • 1 year experience in a non-profit organization is preferred
  • Bilingual preferred (English / Spanish)

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations :

Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

TRAVEL REQUIRED :

Travel is required for this position (up to 50%) of the time and on a domestic basis within our 18-county service area).

This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.

g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
