Job Title : Freight Broker Operations Coordinator (Cradle to Grave)
Job Summary :
The Freight Brokerage Operations Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end freight brokerage process, including client acquisition, load booking, dispatching, and delivery.
This role involves building and maintaining client and carrier relationships, negotiating rates, and ensuring the smooth execution of all freight transactions from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities :
Client and Carrier Acquisition :
- Identify Prospects : Identify potential clients and carriers through research, networking, and cold calling.
- Client Outreach : Reach out to potential clients to understand their freight needs and offer tailored logistics solutions.
- Carrier Recruitment : Recruit and vet new carriers to expand the network and ensure adequate capacity for various freight needs.
Freight Booking and Negotiation :
- Negotiate Rates : Negotiate rates with clients and carriers, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
- Book Loads : Secure and book freight loads with carriers, coordinating pickup and delivery schedules to meet client requirements.
- Contract Management : Prepare and manage contracts with clients and carriers, ensuring clarity on terms and compliance with company policies.
Logistics Coordination :
- Dispatch Loads : Dispatch loads to carriers, providing all necessary information for timely and efficient transport.
- Monitor Shipments : Track and monitor shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring adherence to schedules and addressing any issues that arise.
- Problem Resolution : Proactively manage and resolve any issues related to delays, damages, or other logistical challenges.
Client and Carrier Relationship Management :
- Client Support : Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipments and addressing any concerns.
- Carrier Relations : Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, ensuring reliable and quality service.
- Follow-Up : Conduct follow-up with clients and carriers to ensure satisfaction and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Documentation and Compliance :
- Maintain Records : Maintain accurate and organized records of all transactions, including load details, contracts, and communications.
- Ensure Compliance : Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
Sales and Business Development :
- Sales Targets : Work towards meeting and exceeding sales targets and performance goals.
- Market Analysis : Stay informed about market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and competitive advantages.
- Proposal Development : Develop and present proposals to potential clients, showcasing the company’s freight solutions and value proposition.
Administrative and Reporting :
- Data Entry : Accurately enter load details, client information, and carrier data into the transportation management system.
- Reporting : Generate and analyze reports on freight transactions, client activity, and carrier performance.
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience :
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or a related field.
- Proven track record in managing the entire freight transaction lifecycle, from client acquisition to delivery.
Skills :
- Sales and Negotiation : Strong sales skills with the ability to identify opportunities, negotiate rates, and close deals.
- Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and manage relationships effectively.
- Organizational : Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
- Technical : Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
Certifications :
Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) or similar industry certification is a plus.
