Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Tax Accountant
Position Status : Full-time, Day Shift
Position Location : This position is an on-site, hybrid position ( 3 days in office / 2 days remote) for residents in the Hampton Roads, Virginia / Northeast NC area.
Office Location : 1300 Sentara Park, Norfolk, Virginia
Standard Working Hours : 8 : 00AM to 5 : 00PM (ET).
Position Summary :
Primary responsibilities include the preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings.
This position reports to the Team Coordinator and is responsible for the timely preparation of personal property and income tax filings for both federal and state authorities.
A bachelor's degree in an accounting-related field is required. CPA candidate preferred, but not required.
Duties include :
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns and quarterly reconciliation of income tax accounts, including exempt entities.
- Assist personal property tax filings and handle routine tax correspondence with taxing authorities.
- Conduct tax research using electronic resources under the supervision of Tax Manager and / or Team Coordinator.
- Maintain thorough documentation.
- Interact with federal, local, and state taxing authorities.
- Perform any other task and special projects as assigned by the Tax Manager and / or Team Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelors Level degree-Accounting is required
- CPA or in process of obtaining CPA or career goal to obtain CPA preferred
- Accounting / Auditing; Communication; Judgment and Decision Making; Microsoft Office; Time Management
