General Summary

The Engineering Software Administrator leads the implementation, maintenance and support of software packages used by engineering staff for business functions such as project management, decision support, document management, workflow management, regulatory compliance, and permitting.

This includes e-Builder, Primavera P6 and other support programs. As a technical subject matter expert working within the Engineering and Construction Department (E&C), this position also coordinates with IT to ensure the systems’ operability and compatibility with enterprise technical resources. Essential Functions

  • Configures and customizes applications to meet user needs, enhance efficiencies, improve data quality, and increase reliability
  • Coordinates with IT to ensure resources are available and meet application requirements
  • Reviews and evaluates engineering team workflows to improve efficiency, data quality, and reliability
  • Performs data evaluation and analysis as needed and prepares related reports
  • Understands the roles and interactions among the various software programs within E&C, and advises others about their appropriate usage
  • Establishes appropriate security and access rights
  • Provides technical expertise to staff by training and disseminating training tools
  • Recommends changes to business practices to improve the use of technology
  • Coordinates new requests and solutions to technical issues
  • Serves as the liaison with software vendors and WSSC Water’s IT Department
  • Assures that technical resources are secured, reliable, and readily available for use
  • Drives a vehicle to conduct WSSC Water business

Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Environment And Physical Demands Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Skilled in supporting e-Builder or Primavera p6 applications
  • Ability to determine the better options when customizing or configuring a software package
  • Ability to read, understand troubleshoot and write SQL queries
  • Skilled in data analysis and generating reports
  • Ability to troubleshoot, document, and resolve technical problems
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to lead and coordinate teams working on technical solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business and technical personnel at all levels
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to facilitate meetings including preparation of documentation such as agendas, presentations, meeting minutes, and action items
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project) and Visio

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related discipline
  • 3+ years experience supporting engineering software applications and representing business units’ needs by performing duties such as requirements gathering, business analysis, developing project scopes, process workflow design, implementation, administration, and training
  • 2+ years experience configuring and supporting e-Builder or Primavera applications OR e-Builder or Primavera professional certification
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years experience supporting engineering software applications and representing business units’ needs by performing duties such as requirements gathering, business analysis, developing project scopes, process workflow design, implementation, administration, and training
  • 2+ years experience configuring and supporting e-Builder or Primavera applications OR e-Builder or Primavera professional certification

Additional Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, with no more than 4 points, and the ability to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver’s license within 90 days of hire or transfer
  • Completion of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Financial Disclosure Statement within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter

Preferences

  • Experience supporting one or more of the following : ProjectDox, Linko, Tokay, EnerGov, Riva
  • Working knowledge of GIS, Autodesk, and ECM’s
