Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine , as our Director of Ambulatory Practice Operations for our Cancer Service division at our medical campus in Hyde Park, IL.
Here, you will guide operations for all clinics under the Cancer Services umbrella to include Hematology Oncology group, the Breast Center, and administrative support of our Infusion and IV Therapy clinics.
You’ll be a key stakeholder as the division prepares for the launch of our standalone cancer center - the first of its kind in the greater Chicagoland area.
You’ll join a leadership team of dedicated and passionate individuals committed to transformational change and the highest echelon of patient care.
We are seeking a driven leader who will oversee all outpatient oncology operations. This Director will supervise Practice Managers and collaborate closely with physicians, the Cancer Service Line and Ambulatory leadership.
The role will ensure sites are managed in a consistent manner that embraces UChicago Medicine patient-centered service excellence and clinical quality standards.
The Director works with the goal of boosting performance of the practices by implementing strategies and business plans to drive the organization's growth and quality initiatives.
The position will successfully partner across multiple stakeholders and departments and align operational initiatives with the overall strategic goals of the Cancer Service Line.
In addition to providing operational oversight, this individual will be a key collaborator with relevant departments for coordination of care across the continuum, use of technological tools and solutions, metrics reporting, customer service, and process improvement.
Who you are :
A dedicated & transformational ambulatory leader who possesses the following :
- A Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s degree in a healthcare related field or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience in an ambulatory or medical group setting with a minimum of 4 years progressive leadership and oversight of clinic operations.
- Epic experience with a record of successful technology implementations.
- Experience developing and monitoring a department budget strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physician leaders, preferably in a matrixed medical center environment.
- Excellent talent in the selection and mentoring of a high-quality, effective management team.
- Experience working effectively with multiple stakeholders, navigating conflict, and establishing collaborative resolution.
- Proven ability to lead change, organize teams, and delegate responsibility appropriately using data to drive improvements.
- Experience using LEAN for performance improvement is desirable.

What you’ll do as the Director of Ambulatory Practice Operations for Cancer Services :
- Responsible for day-to-day operations for multiple physician practices at our Hyde Park campus. Provide leadership and oversight of practice operations, managers and staff.
- Lead, develop and motivate a management team that enables a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality patient care environment.
Responsible for all administrative and operational responsibilities including staffing, performance management, operational workflows, patient access and flow, and optimizing the work environment.
- Work collaboratively with other medical group leadership and departments that may include revenue cycle, IT, LEAN, credentialing, marketing, finance and HR to optimize group’s performance.
- Responsible for performance improvement, quality measures and metric analyses in collaboration with administrative and clinical stakeholders.
- Lead operational process improvement efforts, space consolidation and utilization optimization, practice redesign and collaborates with executive and clinical leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Maintain and improve patient satisfaction and physician and employee satisfaction.
- Assure performance improvement, risk management and patient safety functions are developed, evaluated, maintained and integrated throughout areas of responsibility.
- Ensure Cancer Service line and overall organizational initiatives are carried out.
- Ensure lines of communication are developed and maintained with other outpatient practices, Cancer Service Line, and other departments across the medical system.
