Physicians Surgical Network Affiliates are looking for a full-time Coding Manager to join our team in Irving. PSN Affiliates, manages surgery centers throughout Texas and is looking for talented nurses to partner with to give superior patient care.
Minimum Requirements
Associates Degree in Health Information Technology or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
Bachelors’ in Health Information Management preferred
- 4 plus years of facility coding experience.
- 2 plus years of experience in a relevant management and / or supervisory, and / or auditing, and / or education related role in a healthcare field.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
- Current knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third-party payer requirements regarding coding and billing.
- Knowledge of government prospective payment system guidelines preferred.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others.

Position Summary
The Coding Manager supervises and coordinates the Coding area of the Health Information Management Department. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy and consistency of coded data within and across protocols and ensures that medical coding deliverables follow regulatory authority requirements and work closely with the HIM Director in setting direction for optimal use of staff and technology to enhance operational quality and efficiency.
Position Responsibilities
- Develops, revises, and maintains all coding policies and procedures and ensures the information is distributed to and understood by coding staff.
- Coordinates quarterly coding and ensures that internal monitoring of coding quality is ongoing. Utilizes information obtained from these audits and monitoring to develop coding education programs.
- Monitors the unbilled report and coding edit work queues, makes staff assignments accordingly. Works to resolve issues that cannot be corrected by the coding staff.
Works closely with other members of the revenue cycle team to address identified issues.
- Ensure that all client coding and billing is up to date through effective management of coding vendor relationship and processes
- Ensure that all coding and billing is up to date through effective management of coding processes.
- Responds to RAC, Medicaid and other payer requests for code or DRG changes. Ensures that all of these requests and subsequent outcomes are logged
- Manage the selection, training and development of coding staff
