Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Process Engineer, R&D to join our Specialty ingredients G.P. business at our Wilmington, DE.
This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Global Technology function. This position will report to the Head of Process Technology.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Develop the process technology required to commercialize new products flowing from R&D
- Develop and evaluate alternative process options to facilitate decisions on product and process feasibility
- Influence product development teams to ensure process considerations are part of early phase research
- Lead new process development projects
- Direct technicians in lab and pilot plant to define process capability and evaluate process options
- Oversee pilot and commercial trials to demonstrate and commercialize new products and processes
- Document and transfer new process technology to manufacturing
- Develop quantitative reaction and purification models for new products and process optimization
- Conduct vendor trials to evaluate and select manufacturing equipment for new processes
- Supervise lab technicians and drive a safety conscious, high performance work environment
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following :
- BS, MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D, pilot plant, process technology or engineering
- A record of successful technology or product commercialization
- Strong chemical engineering competency in process development and scale-up
- Results oriented with demonstrated leadership and strong team oriented interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated excellent technical and communication skills
- Ability to travel in US and overseas to conduct trials and provide plant support as required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
The following skill sets are preferred :
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D, pilot plant, process technology or engineering
- Master degree or above in Chemical Engineering
- Five years of management experience
- Six Sigma certification
