What You Will Do

onX is seeking a Senior Product Manager who is passionate about building experiences that change people’s lives in the backcountry.

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for defining the strategic vision, roadmap and delivery of the onX Backcountry product to ensure success in the market.

The role requires a data-driven understanding of the customer and business, considering multiple inputs to determine product-market fit and prioritization.

Driven to lead in the market, this role ensures our product is meeting the needs of our customers by monitoring product performance quantitatively and qualitatively and conducting continuous discovery to ensure we stay close to our customer.

The Senior Product Manager also acts as the product owner, leading a cross-functional scrum team focused on Backcountry and working directly with other product managers, engineering, QA, geospatial content, operations, UX and product design, product marketing, brand and customer service teams to ensure alignment and product success.

The role requires collaboration with domain teams who are responsible for building solutions that apply to all business (Hunt, Offroad and Backcountry) by defining and articulating the customer problems, personas and segments and evangelizing those customers across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong customer orientation, developing and maintaining a deep understanding of customer use cases as well as a focus on experimentation and usage data to drive decisions and prioritization.

An ability to lead and influence multi-functional teams across departments is paramount to ensure product success both internally and externally.

This position will report to the GM of Backcountry and is responsible for our Backcountry product.This role works closely with Backcountry partners in Marketing, Content Creation, and Business Development.

As an onX Senior Product Manager, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like :

  • Be a vocal advocate for Backcountry customers by establishing, maintaining, and delivering a prioritized, detailed delivery roadmap for specific features that matter most to this audience
  • Define customer value propositions for new features and work with the marketing team and business development teams as necessary to establish go to market strategies
  • Be data-driven. Define and track solution key performance indicator metrics, understanding engagement as well as the impact on customer acquisition, conversion, and retention.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, UX, and QA teams to prepare roadmap items for development. This includes drafting requirements, defining scope, success criteria, aligning team members, and ensuring measurements are available at launch.
  • Define the strategy for your product area, taking into account solution key performance indicators, customer feedback, company objectives, internal partner input, competitive and market dynamics.
  • Know and understand product development processes, working closely with the team to improve velocity and drive incremental progress on a daily basis.
  • Employ an experimentation approach to test and measure the performance of new tactics and strategies.
  • Continually strive to improve the customer experience, with a focus on product quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Manage and communicate the roadmap across the product organization and company, ensuring alignment with engineering, product design, geospatial content, marketing, sales, and customer success teams.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Experience : We recognize that product leadership expertise can be cultivated from a variety of professional backgrounds.

We are looking for at least eight (8) years of relevant experience with at least four (4) of those in product management for a consumer software company.

  • Preference for experience with mobile software.
  • Experience working in an undefined product space and / or experience with a net new product or feature
  • Knowledge and experience with agile product development processes.
  • High tolerance for growth, change, and experimentation.
  • Self-starter with the ability to find solutions for unstructured problems.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to put together strategic product and business plans.
  • Collaborative, well organized and efficient, and has a strong bias for action.
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, Basecamp, or Connection Hub .

  • Corporate Offices : onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time, this is a great option.
  • Basecamps : onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
  • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following : Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN;

Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.

  • Connection Hubs : onX’s Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
  • Our current Connection Hubs are located within a 60-mile radius of the following : Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC;

Dallas / Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $140,000 to $175,000 upon hire.

The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description.

In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
