Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

Leading with a student-centered focus, this role coordinates and completes financial aid data analysis activities, assessments, and reporting requirements for quality assurance and compliance with financial aid regulations governed by the U.

S. Department of Education. Collaborates with the leadership team in the Office of Student Financial Assistance to ensure all federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures are accurate and current.

Serves as a lead researcher for suspected cases of financial aid fraud and ensures institutional policies & procedures regarding financial aid fraud are in compliance with federal and state guidelines & regulations.

Reviews regulations associated with federal and state aid to determine potential and / or required changes to current administrative processes.

Maintains the policy and procedures manual for the department and ensures implementations or changes are appropriately monitored each academic year.

  • Partners with the Assistant Director of Student Financial Assistance & the Associate Director of Student Financial Assistance & Scholarships with drafting and implementing the federal, state, and institutional compliance polices within the Student Financial Aid Office.
  • Analyzes college guidelines and practices provided by individual departments to mitigate the risk of financial aid fraud;

Assures new or proposed changes to such guidelines or practices do not have a negative impact on the college's ability to administer and process federal and state aid programs.

  • Manages the Financial Aid fraud prevention activities and convenes the fraud task force; Assumes ownership and responsibility for communications, data tracking and SharePoint site management for the Task Force.
  • Leads investigator for students suspected of financial aid fraud; Independently works to resolve problems that require in depth investigation and / or research.
  • Responsible for reporting cases of financial aid fraud and serves as a primary point of contact to the Office of Inspector General.
  • Audits student eligibility for federal and state aid programs including information provided on federal and state aid applications, academic progress and standing, and adherence to institutional standards and policies and regular performs federal student aid assessments.
  • Serves as a member of the Student Financial Assistance Leadership Team and Student Affairs Council meetings.
  • Trains SFA team on policies and procedures and presents on a regular basis at the department or divisional level on new policies and regulatory changes.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, Higher Education Administration or a related field required.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a Financial Aid Department required.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Department of Education financial aid theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and / or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus required.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated attention to detail, time-management skills required.
  • Ability to be creative and exercise initiative. Ability to adjust to changing priorities and respond appropriately to deadlines.
  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to promote collaboration, teamwork, and involve all stakeholders in decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrated basic Project Management skills required.
  • Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft : Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality.

Working Conditions :

  • PC, printer, FAX machine, calculator, photo copier, laser printer, scanner.
  • This position requires background check and drug screening at the College's expense.
  • Must not be in default on federal student loans to have authorization to access Federal Student Aid databases (NSLDS, COD, FAAaccess).

Hybrid Remote Eligible :

Hiring Range :

Managerial 6 Salary / 66,000.00 - 71,000.00
