What you'll be doing...

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Enterprise Network Services (FENS) Deputy Chief Engineer has overall responsibility for the FENS technical architecture including customer-specific service designs, optimization, and near- and longer-term optimization of the FENS network.

Must possess at least 15 years of experience in network design and the engineering and planning of communications services experience is preferred for Safety-critical Environments.

As the Deputy Chief Engineer for the Public Sector Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Engineering Services (FENS) Enterprise Services team, you lead the FENS infrastructure engineering team to design, test, implement, operate, and continually transform the FAA safety-critical, administrative, and research and development networks.

You will lead and work cross functionally with a variety of Verizon internal and external teams and Third-party providers.

As the Deputy Chief Engineer, you are well versed across multiple technology disciplines to include but not limited to Site services, Managed Service, Diversity (electrical, physical, and carrier) Enterprise Solutions, MPLS, Cyber Security, Managed Services, Voice services, Cisco DMPVN, Wireless (4G and 5G), application performance, IT, Cloud, Enterprise Solutions, and more.

You'll lead team of Solutions Architects to drive excellence in solutions development, solutions selling, and opportunity closure.

You'll play a vital role in driving our advanced solutions business performance, growing the capability of your team, and ensuring that nothing gets in the way of achieving success.

Highly focused on the technical, business, and cost modeling aspects of delivering integrated architectures for the FAA FENS opportunity.

The goal will be to deliver the best technical solutions along with the best customer service. You will need to :

Understand customer business challenges.

Drafting agreements with pricing, service commitments, and technical specifications.

Provide briefings at various levels.

Develop and deliver technology roadmap upgrades during the life of the contract.

Conduct and build business and cost models based on technical architecture.

Identify, own, and drive resolutions to gaps in the deal lifecycle delivery processes.

Lead and guide internal and external teams with creating and delivering complex, integrated solutions to meet our customer requirements

You enjoy working in a dynamic environment and can balance contending demands and priorities.

You'll need to have :

Experience in Verizon access and network engineering, as well as back-end system to order and provision services.

Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and / or military experience, or specialized training.

Experience in working with OEMs and developing BOMs.

Ability to manage and balance business and technical requirements.

Ability to obtain a government security clearance of Public Trust.

Experience in communicating (written and spoken) highly technical, multi-faceted (e.g., network, security, data, application) solutions to customers in a simple, understandable manner.

Experience managing large-scale technical programs with end-to-end accountability.

Demonstrated interpersonal communication, organization and project management skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust government clearance.

Even better if you have one or more of the following :

Experience in three or more technical areas listed :

Data and IP Services (MPLS, SIP, internet, VPN, SDN, NFV, SDWAN).

Access Technologies (TDM, Ethernet).

Network Operations (Managed Services for WLAN, LAN, WAN, IP PBX, Automation / Orchestration).

Security (DDOS, FW, IDS, WAF, DDI, SIEM, Analytics, Micro-segmentation).

Cloud and Data Center Outsourcing (application management, compute and storage, virtualization, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).

Wireless technologies (IoT).

IT Applications Management (SOA, Web Services).

Voice Services (Circuit Switched Voice, IP Voice, SIP Trunking).

Current Security, architecture, and industry certifications such as (Cisco CCIE, CCNA or CCNP, CCSK, TOGAFv9, ITIL, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.).

Five or more years of successful experience with strategic solutions and / or systems integration design and solutions selling experience (consultative solutions selling).

Communication, organization, and negotiation skills with the ability to successfully work multiple projects simultaneously.

Public Sector Domain Experience to include both Federal and Department of Defense contract and procurement experience.

Functional knowledge in leading technology network and security vendor portfolios such as Cisco, Avaya, Viptela, Versa, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Riverbed, Juniper, and more.

Highly organized with an ability to manage competing priorities.
