DIGITAL PRINT SPECIALIST

Full-time, onsite in Irondale (Birmingham), AL. Not remote-eligible.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE :

As the Digital Print Specialist, you'll be responsible for a variety of digital printing services for outbound mail that supports our donor stewardship efforts.

The position is key in helping EWTN meet quality, efficiency and donor experience goals, ensuring all projects (welcome letters, acknowledgements, day-of-prayer, tax receipts, special mailings) are printed, folded and inserted according to specifications and to meet delivery deadlines.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

Printing and Mailing Operations :

• Review print requests, organize and implement a work schedule for processing print jobs - both ongoing and special requests.
• Transfer files electronically by saving files to network storage locations and sending files from the network to production print equipment
• Set up, operate, maintain and trouble shoot all digital production printing and folding / insertion equipment.
• Audit production output quality, investigate and initiate corrective action on substandard jobs.
• Perform and coordinate traying mail and completing associated presort mail paperwork.
• Maintain inventory of paper, envelopes, bindery supplies, toner and consumables.

General / Administrative :

Maintain personal productivity and quality standards.

Communicate effectively with the Printing and Mailing Supervisor and members of the Mission Advancement team, informing and updating regularly to guarantee that quality and donor experience objectives are met.

• Ensure reporting and job recordkeeping requirements are met.
• Maintain relationships with printing and mailing vendors to maintain equipment and established service and supply levels.
• Contribute to a work environment that fosters two-way communication ensuring a participatory environment of continuous improvement.
• Develop procedures to improve print, production and mailing efficiencies.
• Stay up to date on printing requirements and postal regulations.

ABOUT YOU :

You have knowledge of :

• Digital print shop operations, including the operation of high volume digital print and insertion equipment.
• Safety practices, including the safe use of mechanical equipment and chemicals (toner, ink, etc.) related to the digital printing process.
• Digital file prep of PDF, XLS and CSV files preferred.
• Standard CRM software applications preferred.
• Fulfillment and inventory process and systems preferred.
• Postal regulations and presort specifications preferred.

You have the skill and ability to :

• Prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.

Intermediate (or above) computer skills.

• Strong problem solving skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform operator maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to provide technical direction and support to staff and vendors.
• Keep current on printing technology techniques.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies (up to 40 lbs.).
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and vendors.
