Gainesville Regional Utilities, the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida, is seeking the best available senior level Electrical Engineer (Engineer IV) who will perform high level, independent, professional and technical Engineering work for an electric utility.

The successful candidate will be required to support a wide variety of engineering projects, both as an individual contributor, project leader, and team leader.

Minimum Qualifications :

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, from an ABET accredited educational institution.

A Senior level Engineer IV position will require at least 6 years' experience as an engineer with emphasis on utility electrical equipment, switchgear, and controls.

We will consider an under fill with a less experienced engineer who is willing to learn and progress to the Senior level.

Essential Job Functions :

Depending on area of assignment :

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates major engineering projects.
  • Performs work that involves engineering practice, which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, materials suitability, optimization of resources and design, and intricate coordination requirements.
  • Work requires a broad knowledge in the specialty area and thorough knowledge of principles and practices of related specialties.
  • May be responsible for development and implementation of project budgets.
  • Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance and / or interpretation to others.
  • May provide limited supervision or coordination of work of one or more subordinate engineers / utility designers, engineering technicians, and other support personnel who assist in specific discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or a major project often with unique or controversial issues, which have an important effect on major programs.

Qualifications :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.

Education And Experience :

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution or similarly accredited non-US institution, and six (6) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility,

Master’s degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited educational institution or similarly accredited non-US institution, and five (5) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility.

Valid Florida Class E Driver’s License required.
