Job Title : Signal Processing Engineer
Location : Burlingame, CA
Schedule : Hybrid - 3 days onsite. M-F 40 hours a week.
Duration : 12 month W2 contract to start, potential for extensions and conversion.
Project Information / Overview : Join our innovative Sensors group at Burlingame Labs, where we are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge hardware equipped with advanced sensors.
Our team focuses on extensive data collection and user studies to enhance the functionality and performance of our devices.
As data streams in, we analyze it to determine sensor performance and identify opportunities for algorithm improvements.
Our work primarily involves time and frequency sensors, detecting signal patterns, compute SNR metrics, extract using information signals, and a strong emphasis on analog technology.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze incoming clinical and physiological timeseries data to evaluate sensor performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with time and frequency sensors, focusing on analog technology.
- Conduct user studies to gather data and insights for product development.
- Code primarily in Python and its scientific libraries (numpy, scipy, etc)
- Augment algorithms to detect signal patterns, classify signals.
- Setup and Run verification and validation campaigns for created algorithms.
- Work with a variety of sensors commonly found in personal-computer devices (e.g., accelerometer, gyro, PPG, pressure, microphone, temperature).
- Understand sensor characteristics, noise profiles, and limitations.
- Prioritize sensor fusion techniques to enhance data accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate algorithms into wearable devices and mobile apps.
Required Skills :
- Extensive experience with sensors, particularly in analog technology & signal processing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 3 years with a Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Senior-level proficiency in Python.
- Strong background in signal processing and signal conditioning, including data aggregation through low-level algorithms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with EMT, wrist wearables, health sensors, and heart rate monitors.
- Experience with C++ and or MATLAB is a plus.
- Experience with DSP is a plus
- Background in medical devices is a plus.
