Recreational Therapist (CMT, CTRS) PRN

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE : Provides music therapy and related recreation department services to patients. Documents provision of services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Programs and facilitates music therapy services for patients 3 to 99 years of age.
• Documents provision of services to include assessment of patients and documentation of progress.
• Assists in PI development.
• Assisting in maintaining music supplies and equipment to include documentation of purchases.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES : Strong verbal, written, and communication skills. Creative programming and ability to modify music activities to suit children, adolescents, and adults in a psychiatric setting.

EDUCATION : High school and Bachelors degree from an accredited university.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION : Board certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists. (MT-BC)

EXPERIENCE : Must have at least 1 year of experience in programming and facilitation of music therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults.

Prefer experience in a psychiatric setting.

Prefer at least some exposure to other specialized areas, , recreation / leisure, , outdoor activities, sports, art or dance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Walking and standing for long periods of time.
• Required lifting items 25 to 50 pounds.
• Requires frequent pushing, pulling, kneeling, grasping, twisting, and bending.
• Repetitive use of hands.
• Requires hearing and vision to be correctable to fall within normal range.
• EXPERIENCE : At least 6 months' work in individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, case management and discharge planning preferably in an inpatient psychiatric facility;

familiarity with ethical and legal duties regarding reporting of abuse.
