Job Title : Paratransit Driver

Location : Leaving from Lincolnwood office and Southside office M-F

Job Type : Full-time / Part-time

We are currently seeking a dedicated and punctual Paratransit Driver to join our team.

Position Overview : As a Paratransit Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of students during their commute to and from school.

Your responsibilities will include safely operating company-issued transportation vehicle to transport passengers to and from their destinations.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide door-to-door transportation for passengers using Kalaju issued vehicle.
• Plan routes to destination and evaluate alternatives for unexpected detours or emergencies.
• Pick up passengers in response to radio or telephone relayed request for service.
• Exhibit safe and defensive driving skills in accordance with Kalaju’s driver training.
• Follow proper procedure when transporting passengers including but not limited to proper wheelchair security and providing passenger assistance at entries and exits.
• Open and close doors for customers.
• Provide passengers with easy entry and exit at pick up and drop off locations.
• Maintain knowledge of proper methods to load and unload, distribute and secure passengers.
• Indicate completion of trip as instructed.
• Complies with local traffic regulations. Evaluates and maintains proper speeds and distances based on road conditions and traffic conditions.
• Completes accident and / or incident reports.
• Collects and records appropriate cash receipts and fares.
• Completes Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections (e.g. records mileage, fuel level, vehicle defects,

Minimum Requirements :

• No CDL required, we will train to obtain a valid School Bus Permit
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Driver's License for three (3) years in good standing. Have no reckless driving charges within three (3) years or tickets for driving 25 mph over speed limit within the past three (3) years
• Must be in compliance with all City, State and Federal vehicle driver licensing and permit laws and requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Desire to work with students of all ages with disabilities
• CPS background clearance
