What you'll do :

We are seeking a dynamic Lead Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a versatile communicator with the ability to create a variety of instructional materials including printed manuals, how-to-use videos, installation guides, and in-app instructions / FAQs to enhance user experience and product understanding.

Key Responsibilities :

Content Creation : Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly instructional content across multiple mediums such as print, video, and digital applications.

This includes writing instruction manuals, scripting and producing how-to-use and installation videos, and crafting in-app instructions and FAQ sections.

Design and Illustration : Utilize Adobe Illustrator or similar tools to create accurate sketches and illustrations of products and installation methods.

Ability to operate independently in developing visual aids that complement written instructions.

Technical Proficiency : Possess technical skills necessary for basic electrical installations, including wiring ceiling LED lighting fixtures, installing in-wall dimmers, and setting up smart home products (IoT).

This technical knowledge should be balanced with an understanding of the consumer's perspective to ensure instructions are accessible to non-technical users.

  • Project Management : Demonstrate a detail-oriented approach to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with company standards and product launches.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Understand and apply regulatory and safety standards relevant to the lighting industry. Incorporate necessary warnings and compliance information into all instructional materials.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and the Graphics team to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to technical documentation and user support materials.
  • Innovation and Efficiency : Leverage existing templates, workflow processes, and AI tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of content creation.

What you'll need :

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the lighting industry or related technical fields.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator or similar design tools.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical installations and smart home technologies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, succinctness, and tone.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into user-friendly content.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety requirements in the lighting or related industries.

Additional Data :

Position is onsite Monday through Friday in our Pico Rivera, CA office. Position does not offer relocation package. No remote work available for this position.
