Job Description and Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Correctional Health Services Administrator II, CF, the Senior Radiologic Technologist, CF (Specialist) will be responsible for providing all radiology services at this facility.

The Senior Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining plans, policies and procedures that provide for optimal production of diagnostic quality film in a timely, effective and cost efficient manner.

The Senior Radiologic Technologist will provide lead support and instruction of other civil service Radiologic Technologists and inmate personnel assigned to his department.

The Senior Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for the maintenance of good order and discipline of those inmates being examined in the Radiology Department.

  • Other duties may include any or all of the tasks performed by Radiologic Technologists; maintaining inventory, ordering required supplies, and having responsibility for the storage and dispensation of supplies;
  • maintaining and updating procedures manual, reports and logs as needed or required; coordinating maintenance services on machinery;

assisting in the preparation of budgets as required; initiating maintenance and repair contracts; and other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the California State Department of Health Services.

Applicants who are in the process of securing such certification will be admitted to the examination but must possess such certificate before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)

Either I One year of experience performing the duties of a Radiologic Technologist, Correctional Facility, in the California state service.

Or II Three years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist.

Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training.

Or III One year of experience as a radiologic technologist and successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
