Description
Position Overview :
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant performs select accounting duties in connection with the month-end G / L close process, including preparing journal entry transactions and generating and / or reviewing various financial statements, management reports, and other supporting schedules.
The incumbent conducts analysis of select G / L accounts and prepares relevant G / L account reconciliations.

- Prepares a variety of recurring financial transactions, reports, and analyses related to operating financial statements, intercompany activity, and other sub-ledger activity and schedules.
- Performs analyses of select G / L accounts for companies and cost centers, as assigned.
- Reviews journal entry activity for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness, interpreting trends or deviations and making recommendations for corrective action.
- Assist with generation of monthly financial statements to include ad hoc financial analytics or explanatory schedules.
- Conducts analysis of select budget-to-actual variances, providing management with explanations for current and prior year changes.
- Prepares monthly journal entries for assigned G / L accounts, ensuring all activity is recorded, adjustments are calculated, and corrections are made.
Ensures all assigned G / L accounts are reconciled.
- Ensures GAAP accounting standards and MGB accounting policies are strictly followed.
- Performs balance sheet G / L account reconciliations using reconciliation software on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in preparation for the annual external audit.
- Assist the preparation of the monthly financial statement close package deliverable.
- Participates in monthly pre-close meetings / working sessions.

Qualifications
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
- At least 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in healthcare accounting or finance preferred.
- Knowledge of Workday GL / ERP systems is a plus.
Skills / Abilities / Competencies :
- Excellent computer skills, including WORD processing skills and intermediate-level (or better) EXCEL skills.
- Knowledge of common accounting principles, practices, and standards (. GAAP)
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal tact for frequent interactions with all levels of hospital and accounting / finance personnel.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability / flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures.
- Must be customer-service focused and a motivated self-starter.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and also autonomously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to positively internalize constructive feedback for professional development.
- Ability to evaluate, propose, and implement process and / or account reconciliation improvements.

Working Conditions :
This position is currently remote. Occasional travel to office may be required subject to business / team needs.
