ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review, examine, analyze and underwrite title search and search results, surveys, legal descriptions (including drawing of description), contracts and other documentation to determine legal title, equitable title, and insurability by accurately detecting title issues that must be resolved prior to closing.
- Perform curative title work and work with closing staff to resolve title issues and clouds on title.
- Draft and oversee preparation of legal documents for curing title defects.
- Prepare and / or oversee drafting of title commitments (or other products) that accurately set out the requirements and exceptions for the issuance of the final title policy for quality and compliance with state laws, company, industry and underwriter best practices and standards.
- Perform closing transactions as a notary public and answer questions regarding the title commitment and title insurance products.
- Review lender closing instructions and ensure staff compliance with the same.
- Perform complex legal research and analysis.
- Perform any other task necessary to ensure a smooth and rewarding closing experience for all parties involved including the seller, purchaser, realtors and lender.
- Represent RTS at appropriate realtor, home builder, lender, and other networking events.
- Conduct targeted business development.
- Act as a licensed title agent.
- Other duties as identified and assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LICENSURE
- Licensed Attorney in the State of Alabama.
- Additional Bar Licenses are preferred or the ability to obtain the same.
- Alabama Title Agent License preferred.
- 1 - 5 years’ experience with real estate law, transactional law and title insurance preferred.
- Experience reviewing title work and curing title defects preferred.
- Network of potential business.

- Travel, as needed.
