PURPOSE OF POSITION : Assist in the execution of the Mercy Home Heroes Endurance Program. The program coordinator will assist in a range of tasks that support team member recruitment, engagement of participants, and revenue goals.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and / or experience in communications, marketing, special event management
- Proficiency in PC systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to become proficient in other software packages and programs as necessary.
- Proficient in digital and social media
- Strong communications skills, well-organized with the ability to juggle a diverse range of projects simultaneously, energetic self-starter with a sense of humor.
- Culturally competent; able to work with a diverse, broad range of internal and external constituencies.
- Interest in long-distance running and prior experience as a charity runner is a huge plus.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a van.
- Ability to work one weekend morning weekly beginning at 6am (spring summer) and be available each year June 1-7 and October 1-15 including evenings & weekends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in staffing recruitment events and team socials.
- Create social media and eNews content, working with marketing and communications teams
- Post, monitor and respond to Heroes Facebook and Instagram accounts
- Assist with Chicago 13.1 and Marathon weekend activities (expos, charity village, pasta dinner, Race Day HQ, Mercy Mile), working with program manager and special events team.
- Manage a peer-to-peer fundraising team portfolio for Bank of America Chicago 13.1 and Chicago Marathon including recruitment, onboarding, fundraising assistance, and Hero recognition.
- Monitor fundraising goals, milestones met.
- Work with partners and sponsors to fulfill agreements.
- Update rosters, process offline donations and referral credits
- Update expense spreadsheets, monitoring inventory, coordinate Heroes gear mailings
