As a Principal Data Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of data infrastructure and architecture.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, optimize performance, and enable advanced analytics.

This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for mentoring and guiding junior engineers.

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will :

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Architect and implement robust data infrastructure to support data ingestion, processing, and storage.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms.
  • Optimize and tune database performance, including query optimization and index management.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for data engineering, including coding standards, testing, and documentation.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the data engineering team.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Required
  • Master's Degree. Preferred

Experience

  • 7-10 years experience in data engineering focused on using ETL or ELT patterns to build automated data pipelines or related technologies. Required
  • 5-6 years experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP Snowflake) preference with Snowflake. Required
  • 5-6 years experience with Python programming or Advanced SQL coding and performance tuning skills. Required
  • Thorough understanding of relational, columnar and NoSQL database architectures and industry best practices of development. Preferred
  • Understanding of dimensional data modeling for designing and building data warehouses. Preferred
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools such as Terraform. Preferred
  • Experience with big data streaming technologies such as Kafka. Experience with parsing data formats such as XML / JSON and leveraging external API's. Preferred
