The Associate Director provides strategic direction in the research, development, and implementation of an integrated program of student organization and student government support within the context of student involvement and leadership development at The Ohio State University.
- Directly supervises team of student organization staff members, who are responsible for registration, training, funding, programming, resources, hazing prevention, and consultation for community of more than 1,400 registered student organizations, as well as the implementation of an innovative system of community standards and management of the daily operations of the physical Center for Student Leadership and Service (CSLS) space in the Ohio Union, including student organization office / locker space and Resource Room;
- serves on the Ohio Union & Student Activities leadership team and works with unit leadership to develop learning outcomes-based programmatic objectives involving student involvement, effective organization operations, and collaborative leadership;
- helps operationalize unit and Student Life strategic plans and aligns team culture with Student Life commitments and Shared Values;
- engages in creative and collaborative problem-solving; works with professional staff to support on-going Student Life student involvement campaigns, including related new student orientation presentations;
- directly supervises student government team, providing strategic support for all three student governments (USG, CGS, IPC) and directly advises the Undergraduate Student Government, including the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, assisting in the administration of the USG elections, and keeping senior Student Life leadership apprised of emerging student issues;
- serves as Student Life liaison to the Post Doctoral Association and the Association of Graduate and Professional Administrators;
- serves as a resource for regional campus colleagues working in Student Activities-related roles; supports supervisees in the development of Student Organization Success Coaches and Resource Room student employees;
- conducts evaluation and assessment of services and programs; develops and maintains purposeful relationships with various campus partners;
administers programming budget; serves on various university committees and performs other duties as assigned.
Supervises : 3 FTE (Assistant Director for Student Organizations, Coordinator of Student Governments, Student Organization Risk Reduction Specialist), 2 GTA (Council of Graduate Students president and vice president), and 2 student associates (Inter-Professional Council president and vice president)
Extended supervisory line includes an additional 2 FTE and approximately 35 student associates
Reports to : Director of Ohio Union and Student Activities, Office of Student Life
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
