About the Role :
Are you a maritime expert with a passion for technical excellence and operational efficiency? As the Fleet Engineering Manager take the helm of the fleets technical operations.
You’ll be the go-to person for all things vessel management, leading a team of skilled Port Engineers and ensuring the fleet sails smoothly and safely, all while meeting critical program requirements.
What You'll Do :
- Be the Expert : Act as the primary contact for customers on vessel management and technical issues, providing expert guidance and solutions.
- Oversee Operations : Manage daily fleet operations, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and compliant vessel operations.
- Drive Excellence : Develop and evaluate overhaul specifications, ensuring the highest standards are met.
- Lead a Team : Supervise the daily performance of the fleet's Port Engineers, fostering a culture of safety and quality.
- Ensure Compliance : Uphold Safety and Quality Management policies across all vessels and program levels.
- Strategize Budgets : Craft budgets and business plans that meet regulatory requirements and ensure mission readiness.
- Manage Purchases : Oversee fleet purchasing activities, ensuring adherence to ethical and business standards.
- Innovate Projects : Lead or assist with special projects, driving the development of new government and commercial business.
- Respond to Incidents : Be a key member of the Incident Response Team for any vessel casualties in your fleet.
- HR Involvement : Participate in the Human Resources Committee, handling Senior Officer assignments.
- Maintain Standards : Make arrangements for the USCG-COI and Class Surveyors to conduct the respective Marine Inspections / Surveys on the vessels.
Maintenance Program Oversight :
- Address Deficiencies : Take charge of critical equipment issues, ensuring swift and effective resolution.
- Follow PMPs : Ensure adherence to Preventive Maintenance Plans (PMP) and document any deviations.
- Approve Deferrals : Review and approve maintenance deferrals, particularly for critical equipment, in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
What We're Looking For :
- Proven Expertise : Shore-based technical ship management or shipyard repair experience.
- Engineering Experience : Background as a Chief Engineer, First or Second Assistant Engineer.
- Educational Credentials : Degree in Marine Engineering from a reputable university, maritime college, or technical institute.
- Security Clearance : U.S. citizen eligible for DOD security clearance at SECRET level.
- Repair Savvy : Vessel repair experience in various capacities (Government, Commercial, Regulatory).
- Regulatory Knowledge : Strong understanding of ABS survey and USCG inspection requirements and standards.
- Contract Management : Proven experience in managing contracts.
- Budgeting Skills : Ability to apply business models for budget prioritization.
- Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational Skills : Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changing environments.
- Travel : Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Unlimited Horsepower License : USCG Chief Engineer license.
- FAR Knowledge : Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations.
- Commercial Experience : Background in commercial ship management.
