As the most-used service on campus and an essential component of education and research at the University of North Texas, the Libraries offer access to more than 6 million items (print and digital) along with expert personnel to assist patrons in achieving their academic and scholarly goals.

We provide innovative programs and support to enhance the relationship between teaching and learning at the University of North Texas.

The Frisco Landing Library serves UNT students, staff, and faculty at UNT Frisco campus. As part of the Public Services Division, we strive to meet the information and research needs of library patrons through the services we offer.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Head of Frisco Landing Library, this position is responsible for managing the service operations at the Frisco Landing Library, which includes service desk management, course reserves, room reservations, library material deliveries, stacks management, and other related circulation services.

The person in this position hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees. Additional responsibilities include providing library information and research assistance services and resolving or mitigating challenging situations.

The Frisco Library Services Manager actively recommends and implements goals, policies, service workflows, and procedures to improve the library user experience.

The person in this position will work collaboratively with the Head of Frisco Landing Library on developing outreach and programming ideas.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and three years' of progressively responsible full-time library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Expert knowledge of library principles and policies and extensive knowledge of specialized area functions and workflows. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Evidence in working effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Verified ability to utilize multiple computer applications toward increased productivity in a rapidly changing environment.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrated critical thinking and independent decisionmaking skills.

Required License / Registration / Certifications

Job Duties :

Manages the service operations at Frisco Landing Library, which is responsible for providing user services to patrons. Monitors the service desk operations and ensures service quality and consistency.

Works collaboratively with other Public Services Division and Library departments to support service delivery and research assistance.

Serves on Circulation Workgroup to represent Frisco Landing Library. Serves as on-site supervisor in absence of the Head of Frisco Landing Library.

  • Supervises student assistants and is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluations.
  • Effectively communicates with the Head of Frisco Landing Library and the student assistants they supervise to keep them informed about changes through manuals, instructions, and other forms of written and verbal communication.
  • Manages course reserves for the Frisco Landing Library. Processes requests received in a timely manner. Communicates effectively with instructors.
  • Manages processes related to material deliveries received from other library locations. Maintains hold pick up, stacks areas and delivery areas.
  • Provides service assistance at the service desk. Checks room reservations and troubleshoots technology issues. Investigates and troubleshoots complex and difficult patron and department related issues.

Discovers effective solutions to resolve or mitigate issues or situations.

  • Works with the Head of Frisco Landing Library on departmental goal setting, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Actively serves as a member of the Frisco Landing Library team to brainstorm ideas on services, programming, and outreach.
  • Assesses service desk operations, improves workflows and procedures to provide excellent customer service and support. Recommends adjustments to enhance the quality of library services.
