Lead DSP
Summary : This Lead Direct Support Professional role (full time only) serves as a liaison between clients, parents, staff, and their manager.
You work directly with clients in addition to your leadership responsibilities. This role is crucial to the success and sustainability of OPPO.
Responsibilities :
Assists with new clients and emergency shifts to ensure full coverage.
Onboarding new clients, maintaining client / dsp compliance and attending annual PCSP’s.
Responsible for filling in shifts when requested by the supervisor regardless of the client location.
This role will be responsible to work their own DSP shifts in addition to leadership responsibilities.
Constant communication with your supervisor for any updates, clarification, and guidance.
Scheduling DSP staff according to client needs, documenting client attendance, track client units, monitor staff hours, and ensure daily care notes are in place.
Plans and facilitates client activities and outings, events, and activity planning to align with the client’s PCSP
Has a good working knowledge of DSPD and DHS contracts and the Code of Conduct.
Assigns and ensures staff's completion of monthly reports.
Completion and timely submission of quarterly reports for all assigned clients.
Attends all assigned meetings and training.
Supports clients with activities of daily living (ADL), bathrooms, hygiene, eating, etc.
First point of contact for client families / guardians / care teams.
Works respectfully with the client care team ensuring regular and effective communication
Be accessible to employees that you supervise
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Must successfully obtain required certifications and training.
Keeps required personal and staff certifications updated and maintains personal compliance.
At least 75% of work must be billable hours (worked directly with client). At times, up to 51% of billable hours can be preapproved.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Access to reliable transportation.
Ideal Qualifications :
Responsible leadership experiences
At least two years of equivalent caregiving experience
Shows compassion, patience, positive attitude, flexibility, outgoing personality, optimism and provides excellent care.
Certifications including CPR, Safety-Care Training
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
Has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use mechanical lifts where required and transfer individuals correctly
Ability to work in conditions with cats / dogs / pets or submit a medical accommodation of a pet allergy.
Ability to be alert and attentive to those we serve (even in a group setting)
Ability to not be easily distracted as we often work in large groups of clients with high energy, escape threats, aggressive emotions and challenging behavior.
Ability to safely transport 1 - 4 clients throughout each scheduled shift.
