What We're Looking For

Cross River’s Compliance team makes sure that our business is always consistent with current regulations. The Compliance CMS Support team implements the Bank’s core CMS functions though the establishment enterprise-wide programs related to monitoring and testing.

  • This team is responsible for assessing compliance risks and controls implemented by the first and second line of defense;
  • performing compliance testing and monitoring activities to assess the design and effectiveness of compliance controls within the Bank and at fintech partners;
  • reporting and escalating control issues and any violations of laws or breaches of policy; validating adequacy of remediation taken to address reported issues;

and coordinating and overseeing external compliance reviews.

Responsibilities :

  • Execute compliance monitoring, testing, and other reviews in accordance with the established procedures, program methodology and schedule to provide ongoing independent assessment of compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Perform comprehensive testing of various consumer lending and deposit processes, systems, and controls to assess adherence to consumer protection laws, including Truth In Lending (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Truth in Savings (TISA), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA) and other relevant regulations.
  • Analyze results : Analyze testing results to identify trends, patterns, and potential compliance deficiencies or control weaknesses, providing recommendations for remediation.
  • Assist with the development and management of Compliance Risk Assessments.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of the Bank’s monitoring and testing standards for performing reviews that provide statistically based assessments of compliance controls.
  • Assist in preparing deliverables and providing support for regulatory exams and / or internal audits.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of testing activities, findings and remediation efforts related to consumer lending compliance.

Ensure documentation complies with internal policies and regulatory expectations, facilitating audits and regulatory inquiries.

Stay abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends, and emerging risks relevant to consumer banking laws and regulations, proactively assess the impact of regulatory changes on our compliance testing program and recommend adjustments as needed.

Qualifications :

  • 3-5 years’ experience in compliance testing, internal audit, or regulatory compliance within the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on consumer laws and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of consumer products such as personal loans, lines of credit, deposit accounts, and credit cards.
  • Experience in designing, performing, and reporting on compliance testing reviews, including compliance related transactional testing.
  • Previous experience with development and management of Risk and Control Matrices.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating and maintaining Compliance Risk Assessments, issue management logs, controls assessments and transactional testing.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze consumer compliance banking laws and regulations in areas of focus which include : TILA, ECOA, FDCPA, FCRA, HMDA, UDAAP, EFTA, and TISA.
  • Knowledge of operational processes and technologies utilized in banking, including deposit account handling, loan servicing and collection, and payment processing.
  • Proven track record showing ability to maintain high attention to detail while managing multiple assignments and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques.
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills and ability to interact effectively as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest in technology and innovation. Prior fintech experience a plus.
  • CRCM and / or JD a plus.
