JOB SUMMARY :
This position will provide Fire Alarm (FA) and Radio Fire Alarm Reporter (RFAR) system engineering technician support to the HMIS Engineering organization that includes providing technical support to the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire systems across multiple Hanford Site contractors.
Essential job duties of this position include :
- Generating HMIS FA and RFAR system Preventive Maintenance (PM) methods.
- Directing the troubleshooting of system malfunction and providing input on correction action / solution(s).
- Effectively corresponding and coordinating with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for all ITM items related to NFPA 72 and associated NFPA codes.
- Ensuring that compliance with applicable fire protection program design requirements is established and maintained for assigned work tasks.
- Supporting discipline engineers and design authorities in the development, review, and approval of engineering change documentation and system health information and metrics.
- Establishing, maintaining, and improving the configuration management of assigned systems.
- Effectively working with other Hanford Contractor Fire Protection Engineers, interfacing with Project Managers, and meeting with customer subject matter experts as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of related experience - OR - an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Related experience must include design, installation, maintenance and configuration control of fire FA & RFAR systems.
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level II - FA & RFAR.
- Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering solution strategies.
- Good communication and negotiating skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
Desired Qualifications
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III - FA & RFAR.
- Prior experience with Hanford Site applications, systems, and infrastructure.

Grade 17 : $94,650 - $119,250
Grade 18 : $104,175 - $131,425
Grade 19 : $114,475 - $144,325
