Overview : The System Engineer is responsible for managing Windows engineering, Linux engineering, Cloud engineering, backup and storage systems, and VMware environments.
This person will have a technical background in these areas, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining the respective environments.
This role requires a proactive approach to system optimization, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability and reliability across all infrastructure components.
The System Engineer will collaborate with both the Koozie Group Infrastructure team, but also with the entire Information Technology teams to support business operations and drive continuous improvement in system performance and efficiency.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and maintain Windows server environments, including server installation, configuration, and administration.
- Implement and optimize Active Directory services, Group Policies, and domain services.
- Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system security and stability.
- Administer Linux-based systems, including installation, configuration, and management of distributions like CentOS, Ubuntu, or Red Hat.
- Configure and optimize web servers, database servers, and other critical applications running on Linux platforms.
- Implement security measures and perform regular system updates and patches.
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Design and implement cloud solutions for scalability, redundancy, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor cloud resources, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with security best practices.
- Design, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical data and systems.
- Monitor storage systems, capacity planning, and performance tuning to ensure optimal performance.
- Implement data encryption, compression, and deduplication techniques to maximize storage efficiency.
- Deploy, configure, and manage VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
- Monitor virtual infrastructure performance, capacity planning, and resource optimization.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using VMware technologies.
- Develop and implement system monitoring tools and procedures to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Automate routine tasks and workflows using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and configuration management tools.
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve escalated system issues.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system emergencies outside of regular business hours as needed. Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, RHCE, VCP) preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in system engineering roles with expertise in Windows and Linux environments, backup and storage solutions, and VMware virtualization.
- Strong knowledge of networking, TCP / IP protocols, and system security principles.
- Experience with backup technologies (e.g., Commvault) and storage solutions (SAN / NAS).
- Proficiency in VMware technologies and virtualization management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
